Probing Personal Questions

I applied to Bellevue Community College again today. I decided that I didn’t just want to coast throught life with no skills. I want to be needed for a job and not viewed as “expendable.” Thus I am preparing to enroll in the “Animation and Graphics” program. I’ve always been a good illustrator and thought that animating would be a great next step. The thing that really sucks abotu going to college is filling out the FAFSA.

I hate it. Even though I’ve never been to college, I’ve filled out the FAFSA something like 4 or 5 times and it always asks the same dumb questions. What really gets me though, is the questions about my parent’s income. It shouldn’t matter what their income is. They haven’t paid my bills in years, nor would I expect them to try to come up with the money to pay for my college. They earned the right to just worry about themselves and not me too. But I fear that the FAFSA will think that they made too much money and, as a result, will find that I am not in need of finanical assistance. Or worse, they’ll see what I make and say that too. I hope they realize that I live in one of the most expensive towns in all of the state. There isn’t a lot of money left over after my rent and bills. Now I’ve got to wait for the responses to roll in. I hope their good…

  1. I concur. I am attempting to go back to college and finish my ATA (I’m THREE frickin’ classes away) and the FAFSA seems to need more information then I think they should get. But then again it is free money.
