I’m in the process of packing and moving so I never got around to a comic for July 10th. I probably won’t be able get around to another comic until Tuesday of next week but I encourage you to check back before then because you never know when I’ll have a few moments to bust one out for you guys.
This week and next week I have a 6 comic series planned so in an attempt to just make it a two week series instead of three, I am planning on releasing three comics this weeke and next. The update days will be Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday for both weeks.
I just tried the Spore Creature Creator for the first time last night. Spore, for those who don’t know, Spore is “a multi-genre “massively single-player online game” under development by Maxis and designed by Will Wright. It allows a player to control the evolution of a species from its beginnings as a unicellular organism, through development as an intelligent and social land-walking creature, to levels of interstellar exploration as a spacefaring culture. It has drawn wide attention for its massive scope, and its use of open-ended gameplay and procedural generation.” (Description taken from Wikipedia simply because I couldn’t begin to describe what Spore is going to be).
Anyway, it was really interesting, really fun, and it convinced me to pre-order so I can hold my copy as well as get the full version of the creature creator. Below are a copy of shots of the first creature I’ve created:

Thursday’s comic (which will also be a Father’s Day comic dedicated to my dad) will be delayed until sometime Thursday evening most likely. Thank you.
“Summer’s in the Air” (the comic I posted on Monday) will technically count as an early release of Tuesday’s comic. In keeping with my wishes of released extra material for June I am currently planning on releasing a comic on Wednesday and Thursday of this week as well. I know the schedule seems a little erratic but what’s it matter as long as there’s new material eh?
So I missed Thursday and I was looking back through the May’s archives and was disappointed to see that I had only really posted 6 comics for the whole month. Granted, the month before was a much busier month featuring way more then the two per week you guys were supposed to get. That’s when I decided that that was what I wanted June’s updates to look like. I am of course planning on meeting the Tuesday and Thursday updates as much as humanly possible for me, but in addition to those updates I’m just going to randomly spring updates on you. You can check back more, or subscribe for your favorite RSS feed reader via the “subscribe” button in the navigation at the top.
I didn’t remember it was Wednesday until like right now and I’ve got to get going to bed for work so the comic will be delayed until Thursday night. Stupid three day weekend screwed… *mutter, mutter*
Construction on the site is proceeding well. I have started the process of updating the titles of the comics to actual titles instead of dates. That will take several days as I have to go through around 800 comic strips. I just wanted to let you know.
Wow. So yesterday I found out that there was a huge security risk in the code of the update script I’ve been using to run A Rusty Life. In attempt to cut attacks off before they happened, I had to shut off the site and restart. I’m going to be days away from having the site looking and running the way I want but when it’s done all the old ARL comics will be here as well as the There and In Between comics. So please bear with me as I get everything running okay. As for right now all of the comics since the “strip” version are here they are just listed by dates and not names. That’s on my list of things to tweak in the upcoming days. I’ve spent the last 7 hours trying to get all my files and everything safe and getting what I’ve got so far running and getting the comics all set up. So no comic today. The next update will be Tuesday. Tomorrow the site receives its themeing.
PS - I just joined a comic collective full of fantastic comics. Use the navigation bar at the very top of my page to check them out.
PPS - I just imported all of my blog posts from http://www.johndango.com. I can’t decide whether or not I would rather have a blog and a comic or blog/comic. Anyway. For the time being those posts are here.
